The cultural and creative sector will play an increasingly important role in Italy’s economic and employment landscape. For this reason, it is essential to train professionals capable of managing and developing businesses operating in the cultural and creative industries in a sustainable and innovative way.
With this in mind, the Master in Arts & Design Management for Creative Organisations (MADEM) is designed as an advanced training programme that prepares professionals to steer the growth of cultural enterprises, apply the principles and tools of design, and build innovative partnerships between the worlds of art and design and traditional industrial sectors.
The Master in Arts & Design Management for Creative Organisations (MADEM) is a national advanced training programme aimed at graduates and professionals working or intending to work for organisations operating in the artistic, creative and cultural sectors, including museums, theatres, festivals, foundations, for-profit and non-profit companies and organisations, and public entities.
The specific goal of the Master is to develop technical and specialist skills and knowledge, soft skills and leadership capabilities for those who aspire to hold positions of greater responsibility or work as consultants or entrepreneurs in the arts, culture and creative industries.
The programme is also aimed at those interested in developing collaborations and interactions between these industries and traditional businesses, with the objective of enhancing innovative capacity and stimulating new entrepreneurship.
The purpose of the Master is to analyse and develop, through a multidisciplinary, specialised and integrated approach, business-oriented models, techniques, approaches and management tools, as well as implementation guidelines, to support the innovation of arts organisations.
The programme also supports the creation and development of collaborations between the creative, artistic and cultural industries and the business world, responding to the growing training and know-how needs of public administrators, entrepreneurs, managers and professionals operating or interested in operating in these sectors.
Particular attention will be given to improving the use of tangible and intellectual capital, enhancing the acquisition and transfer of specialist and cross-disciplinary know-how, and identifying and managing the factors that enable the growth of innovative capacity and the professional development of human resources.
The programme will also focus on marketing and market orientation, project and financial resource management, the role and impact of digitalisation, and funding and fundraising opportunities, with the aim of improving organisational performance and the socio-cultural, employment and territorial impacts generated by arts organisations.
To ensure high-quality training in the field of Design, the LUM School of Management has strengthened its partnership with Superstudio Academy, the educational division of Superstudio Group, a successful organisation that produces high-profile events and pioneered the Design District phenomenon in Milan.
This collaboration has led to the development of a theoretical and practical module coordinated by Gisella Borioli, Founder, CEO, Creative & Communication Director of Superstudio Group and Superdesign Show.
The module features contributions from Superstudio managers, its internal team, collaborators and visiting professors with extensive international experience in the fields of events, fashion, design, art and communication.
Students will focus on the development of the Superdesign Show project, an annual museum-style design exhibition. This multitasking, multicultural, digital and open-minded format allows students to engage directly with the demands of the professional world while acquiring cultural, technical and technological skills.
The module also includes Experience Days. During Milan Design Week, students will participate in the event in key roles, gaining the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Superdesign Show through a voluntary professional experience in the field.
Admission to the Master in Arts & Design Management for Creative Organisations (MADEM) is subject to the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or a higher-level qualification, including a Master’s Degree or Single-Cycle Master’s Degree.
A minimum B2 level of English proficiency is required.
Non-EU students must submit a recognised English language certificate.
