Our History

Pages that have told and that will tell the pride and the passion of those taking part to the difficult adventure of building the progress of their own land.

1995

LUM University was founded in 1995 by Sen. Giuseppe Degennaro.
Since its beginning, teacher have been chosen amongst the best and most popular Italian and foreign scholars, and the planning shows a particular attention to courses’ usability and quality.

The first moves, according to all the values in University’s history, are marked with the experience and the enthusiasm of scholars and men and women of culture and enterprise: they realized actions, educational activities and researches, making the achievement of great results possibile.

In 1996 LUM achieves the acknowledgement by Action Jean Monnet – European Commission of Brussels, as location of Chairs, permanent Courses and Modules of teaching, designed to promote the culture of European integration. In those years, important personalities of research and professions succeed at LUM, and this qualifies its teaching body as constantly engaging in offering a high profile education.

2000

In 2000, LUM receives legal acknowledgement by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, and it forms two faculties: Economics and Law. The experience and authority of the faculty, and the enthusiasm of its founder, determined over years an important increase of the number of enrolled students, and this clearly shows that all actions taken have been effective and capable of interpreting needs and ambitions of young students and of giving them useful answers.

 

In 2004 LUM University’s Scuola di Management is founded, with postgraduate educational paths such as University Master in General Management (MIGEM), University Master in Marketing & Retail Management (MIREM), University Master in Auditing & Control (MAC), University Master in Law, Economy and Health Authority Management (DEMAS), University Master in Management of Transportations and Integrated Logistics (MITEL).

 

In 2010, Professor Claudio Giannotti becomes Director of the School and develops important products in executive training.

 

In 2012 Professor Francesco Manfredi is appointed Deputy Rector with responsibility for Managerial Postgraduate Training, and then becomes Director of the School, that becomes LUM School of Management with a new brand, its own status and a strategic plan aiming at taking it amongst the most important Italian management schools.

 

Since 2013, after a long process of evaluation of its suitability to the high quality standards required in terms of organization, structure and educational offers, LUM School of Management becomes ASFOR (Italian Association for Managerial Training) ordinary member, and it joins members’ Code of Ethics, adapting all its offer to ASFOR’s requirements in order to protect its users and to participate in spreading quality education.

2016

In 2016, LUM School of Management and LUMAS – Lupiaensis Management School found the most important School for managerial training in Southern Italy, with the opening of the new headquarter in Lecce, in the beautiful palazzo of the former convent “Convento dei teatini”.

2018

n April, 2018, the School of Law is founded: it is a division of School of Management for High Legal Training which, among other activities, offers University Masters and Executive Masters to respond to the increasing demand of qualified professionals, capable of legal and entrepreneurial competence in dealing with the challenges posed by the new legal tools and by the evolution of the job market.

 

In September, 2018, Milan’s campus of LUM School of Management was opened. Its location is a prestigious eighteenth-century building called Villa Clerici. In the campus, with a strong international inclination, the activities and the educational paths of the School of International Studies take place.

Achievements

LUM School of Management has a modern organization, turning the basis of its own foundation into efficiency; an organization capable of building and reinforcing contact paths between teachers and students, academic and productive world, generating precious synergies for students.

The agreement between LUM School of Management and ManpowerGroup, the Summer School in partnership with Heroes in the wonderful Maratea, the School of Business English in partnership with Study Tours: these are further important pieces of the School’s strategy for enhancing all participants and their entry into the job market.

 

LUM School of Management is therefore the third pillar of LUM University, alongside faculties of Economics and Law. The Scientific Director works with Professor Francesco Albergo, operative director, and a group of young researchers and coordinators of departments and projects, and they all guarantee that the School is always active and increasing its quality.

 

Together with University Masters and Advanced Training and Specialization Courses, the School offers important activities with a high scientific value: we promote many seminars and important conferences, important occasions to meet and discuss the business innovation processes; the School also takes part to experimental initiatives and researches with the main local players, belonging to both private and public fields.

 

In this process of development, many fruitful relationships with enterprises, public institutions and health authorities, Third sector and representative organizations are increasingly getting stronger. The School aims to be seen as a privileged partner by all these players, as it can offer skills and resources to collaborate with the productive, institutional and cultural sector, making the same effort every day in improving South and the Mediterranean area and allowing them to grow.

 

LUM School of Management has therefore a modern organization, turning the basis of its own foundation into efficiency; an organization capable of building and reinforcing contact paths between teachers and students, academic and productive world, generating precious synergies for students: the School is particularly interested in creating relationships and agreements with important local production companies, in order to plan training courses and create occasion for job placement.

 

But the future history of the School still has to be written: pages that will tell the pride and the passion of those taking part to the difficult adventure of building the progress of their own land, strong with values, ideas, and ambitions.
