The master program in International Business in China (MIBC) aims to provide graduates with a global and critical understanding of the main issues of international business and economic development, and to offer up-to-date perspectives on the peculiarities of the Chinese economy
Its ultimate goal is to prepare participants through a structured pathway providing them with the tools to pursue an international business career, in particular, in the development of projects and partnership relations between Italy and China.
Faced with profound global transformations, the Chinese economy represents a reference point for Italian companies due to China’s key role in global supply chains and its technological innovation processes that set new paradigms and benchmarks in various sectors (such as clean energies, smart vehicles, advanced technologies, etc.).
In addition, we must also take into account the great interest that the most important Chinese companies show towards Italian companies, which are often the subject of M&A deals . In this context, this master’s degree represents a unique learning experience for recent graduates who want to be empowered with tools to fully understand global business and carry out in-depth analysis of China’s dynamic business environment, along with knowledge of its history, culture, law and politics.
The program is designed to provide graduates with a mix of business-related analytical and problem-solving skills and a focus on major international challenges and emerging issues in doing business with China. The master’s degree, taught entirely in English, aims to provide students with an innovative learning approach, with advanced knowledge and practical sense that allows them to manage main challenges in a multicultural business context.
At the end of lecture courses (which are taught in English at the LUM School of Management in Milan) the master’s program includes the possibility for students to complete the master’s program with an internship experience and Chinese language course in Italy (Option A) or with a “Chinese Language and Business Culture Experience” in China (Option B):
OPTION A – “Internship and Chinese Language” (in Italy): to allow students to put into practice what they have learned through an experience with Italian companies that operate closely with the Chinese market and strengthen Chinese language skills by attending a Chinese language course (80 hours) (entry level for beginners or advanced level for students with Chinese skills).
OPTION B – “Chinese Language and Business Culture Experience” (in China): a period of approximately 10 weeks in China to allow students to attend a Chinese language course (80 hours) offered at the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou and a business culture training experience at partner companies in China (Guangdong Province).
Final Dissertation, to complete the master’s program with a brief dissertation that showcases the student’s in-depth understanding and skills developed during the master’s experience.
Admission to the Master is subject to possession of a first level degree, university diploma or second level degree or equivalent foreign university qualification, in economic, technical-scientific and quantitative, legal, humanistic and socio-political disciplines. Those who are candidates to achieve the required university qualification can also apply, provided that they achieve such qualification within the extraordinary session of the academic year preceding the year of enrollment. These candidates will be admitted conditionally and will complete their enrollment to the Master only after obtaining the required qualification for admission.
