As a result of the processes of European integration, European lawyers, policy-makers and managers need to be internationally oriented and culturally open in order to support the political, social and economic improvement of the European Institutions. The Master in “Careers with the European Union” (MACEU) is a one-year, practice-oriented programme that aims to prepare talented graduates to kick-start their international careers. The Programme merges academic rigor with practical relevance to offer students a unique learning experience. Through interactive lectures, live case discussions, field projects and group work, the Master provide students with frameworks, tools and techniques to build the a set of skills required to have the opportunity to make a difference in Europe. The program has a total of 1500 hours, including teachings, seminars, and internship activities.
The Master in “Careers with the European Union” welcomes international recent graduates from a variety of study disciplines and cultural backgrounds. This ranges from those with little or no professional experience looking for a degree programme that acts as bridge to the real world as well as candidates with up to two years of professional background who seek in-depth knowledge of how theory applies to the real world.
A proven fluency in English (the instruction language) is required.

MODULE 1 – European Organisation and Policies
In the heart of Milan the first module will base the pillars of EU organisation and legislation:
•The history of the EU
•Treaties
•Institutions
•The legislative process
•The Eu policies
•The European economy
•The Eu budget and EU economic policy
•The external relations of the EU
•The Convention and the Constitution of the EU
•The information and communication Sources
These courses are thought for interdisciplinary participants and will introduce to the fundamental tools of EU legal and institutional perspectives.
Diversity in the group is an added value characterizing the Programme. Participants come from different cultural backgrounds and disciplines. They are carefully selected in order to form a group with similar concerns, while maintaining a balanced mix of vision and cultures.
MODULE 2 – Orientation Phase
During this phase students can choose which specialisms to study. This option give candidates the opportunity to determine the direction of their studies right from the start and this flexibility offers our students the freedom to shape their future according to their interests and their needs.
The knowledge and skills acquired during this course are highly valuable in a range of sectors including (but not solely): economic consulting, political campaigns and public relations, or large international institutions. Students will be able to pursue also a career which requires in-depth knowledge of European Union.
MODULE 3 – Culture Immersion (Milano)

MODULE 4 – Internship Programme and institutional visits (non obbligatorio)
The internship programme lasts from 1 to 2 months, according to the choice made at the time of the enrollment. The European Institutions will be selected, according the preferences expressed by the candidates for their personal development plan.
The candidates will be introduced to their Academic Tutor in Italy, and they will coach the students during the internship programme.
Networking events and activities will be promoted to enrich the experience in Brussels in order for the students to meet other international young professionals.
This module is not compulsory. The additional cost of Module 4 is from 3.000 to 4.000 Euros.
MODULE 5 – Project Work and Final Dissertation (Milano)
At the end of the program, in the final project work, participants are asked to describe their internship experience; it would be also the topic of the final dissertation.
This stage is the final step to obtain a Master’s Degree in “Careers with the European Union”, that, according to the Italian Ministry of Education, corresponds to 60 CFU.
This University Master provides students with 60 ECTS credits.
Attendance is compulsory for at least 70% of total class hours
– There is a 10% reduction for LUM University’s graduates
– The University Master can be funded with Regione Puglia’s scholarship program “Pass Laureati”
– A call for “Torno subito” scholarships is available for students residing in Lazio
– For enrollments up to July 1st, 2019 there is a 15% reduction of the price
– There is an arrangement between Lum School of Management and Deutsche Bank to finance the registration fee for the University Master.
– April 29th, 2016 n.288 Ministerial decree, “Spesa massima corsi di istruzione per le Università non statali di cui all’art. 15, comma 1, lettera e) del D.P.R. 22 dicembre 1986, n. 917”, Italian Ministry of University has announced the amounts that are tax deductible and that must be declared on 730 form or Modello UNICO form. The maximum amount for students enrolled in first and second level University Masters is 1.800 €.
