Lean Organization Laboratory

The Lean laboratory focuses on a project to improve the performance of services provided and simultaneously drastically reduce waste. Lean Management is applicable both in service-oriented companies and in production companies, and can be implemented in private companies, public organizations, and healthcare sector, all through the adoption of a “lean” approach.

The Laboratory aims to provide consulting services and support to companies wishing to implement the process in their organization. Through the laboratory, all implementation phases are monitored and supported, from educational and training aspects to practical and operational aspects with the handmade construction of the implementation process.

Among the activities already developed, there are several improvement projects carried out by our laboratory in the Healthcare sector, boasting efficiency projects on a national scale with international context analysis.

The Lean workshop focuses on improving the performance of services provided and simultaneously drastically reducing waste. Lean Management can be applied in both service-providing companies and production companies, and it can be implemented in private companies, public organizations, and in the healthcare sector, all through the adoption of a “lean” approach.

The workshop aims to provide consulting and support activities to companies wishing to implement the process in their organization. The workshop monitors and supports all stages of implementation, from educational and training aspects to practical and operational aspects with a “hand-made” construction of the implementation process.

Among the activities already carried out, there are several improvement projects conducted by our workshop in the Healthcare sector, boasting national efficiency projects with international context analysis.

The phases: Introduction to Lean, Value Stream, and the 5 basic lean principles; Lean leadership and Lean Strategy; 5S methodology (order and cleanliness); the 3P approach (Production-Preparation-Process) to simplify flows; statistical analysis of healthcare interventions, Jidoka (immediate correction of problems by individuals); action plan for lean healthcare (gap analysis); Kaizen blitz (rapid improvement in one week); types of Kaizen (small, medium, and large); exercises and role-playing.

The defining element of the lean healthcare program consists of two additional fundamental aspects:

  • Economic-financial: It is common to start lean projects without ensuring that the expected benefits are reflected in the budget. Our approach involves a solid accounting of waste reduction and unproductive costs, and their impact on the income statement and cash flow.
  • Planning: Lean projects yield the greatest results in operational activities and work organization. However, the absence of a solid and structured planning system could pose the risk of lacking the necessary visibility to address unforeseen events and fluctuations in demand or service supply.

THE PER4MANCE MAGAZINE

The research and studies conducted by the workshop gave rise to the need to create a Magazine to shed light on organizational and behavioral dynamics in companies, offering news, best practices, case studies, interviews, and in-depth analyses aimed at “participatione scientiae.”

Per4mance is a special session of the workshop born out of a strong curiosity and desire to analyze and discuss themes of organizational culture contextualized with current events, with the ambition to become a constructive tool for sharing and analyzing models and best practices.
