Supporting professionals and entrepreneurs in corporate innovation processes, support managers in developing their organizations, facilitate the entry of young graduates into the labour market, promote the culture of corporate responsibility to assist the Government and sustainable development of our territories and our community are the objectives of LUM School of Management, especially in this time of crisis that forces everyone to a strong awareness and consistent behaviour.
Understanding that this is not only an economic crisis. If so, it would probably be already over. Before being an economic crisis it is a crisis of identity and values, politics and social and cultural policies of Western countries. The crisis are four, of which the economical would paradoxically be the easier to deal with if there weren’t the other three.
Consistently with this assumption, we have to abandon the technical culture, that has deluded us telling us that with technique, maybe financial , you could create a modern richness able to satisfy any need, instead this only brought to affirm an individualistic, unequal model of society.
The exact opposite of the humanist culture that has always been the basis of major transformations in Europe, and that today we must recuperate in its essence to be able to recompose and orient the diversity toward a common good which should not only be declared but also made.
We must therefore think about our framework of values and cultural concepts such as social cohesion, community membership, shared identity, governance, and sustainable development of communities and territories, public-private partnership will be the cultural and operational challenge for decision-makers and organizations.
Common values, shared vision, the system of thought, the importance of the individual and groups for learning and the development of awareness, generosity and trust, social consensus; all entrepreneurs and managers with not be able to cope without these important aspects, they must all share and make an effort with the people who work with them.
It is the goal towards the new humanism, through which it will be possible to encourage the involvement of individuals, increase their ability to learn, encourage the development of free information flows and based on the desire to improve themselves by improving business results, it is the shared identity that allows to enhance talents. The professionalism, of course, but also motivation, adaptability, creativity, the ability to be innovative and cooperative, simply passion.
Companies will be called upon to operate in the logic of relations and not just trade, to develop competences for the understanding and the Government of change, for trading and interacting with internal and external stakeholders, for resolving unforeseen problems like technical-economic but also social, for comparison and for the solution of culture problems emerging and for the management of community dynamics.
For this, the main challenge that entrepreneurs, managers, public leaders have today is to think and propose new organisational and management models based on assumptions about the innovative relationships and human behaviour: thinking and proposing more efficient systems and organizations leveraging on the best part of the people instead of trying to optimise the worst.
All this because today nobody can delude themselves that we do old things in a new way or new things so old. Today people have to have the motivation and the ability to lead their organisations to do new things in new ways.

LUM Jean Monnet University was founded in 1995 by Sen. Giuseppe Degennaro. Already in the startup phase, the teachers were selected among the most famous and prestigious Italian and foreign professors and educational programming emphasizes a strict attention to the usability and quality of courses. The first steps, based on the values that animate the entire history of the University, are moved by the experience and enthusiasm of academics and men of culture and enterprise, which permitted everything to start, training and research courses, allowing you to reach important goals.
In 1996 the LUM obtains recognition from the Action Jean Monet – European Commission Brussels as a permanent chairs, Courses and teaching modules, oriented to disseminate the culture of European integration. In those years the succession of authoritative personalities of the world of research and qualifying professions faculty of LUM and testifies to the continued commitment to offer a high-profile education.
In 2000 the LUM obtains the legal recognition by the Ministry of education, University and research, forming two faculties: Economics and jurisprudence.
The experience and authority of the faculty, as well as the enthusiasm in sharing the development project of the founder, have led, over the years, an important rate of growth in the number of registrations that testifies to the effectiveness of actions taken, able to interpret the needs and aspirations of young students and give them useful feedback.
In 2004, the school of Management of the University LUM, with postgraduate educations such as qualifying Master in General Management (MIGEM), the Master in Marketing & Retail Management (MIREM) a Master’s degree in Accounting & Control(MAC), a Master in Law, Economy and Management of Healthcare Boards (DEMAS), a Master in Transport and Logistic Integration (MITEL) were activated.
In 2010, Prof. Claudio Giannotti takes over the management of the school and develops important structures in the executive education field.
In 2012 the Prof. Francesco Manfredi was appointed Pro-Rector, responsible Management Postgraduate training and consequently also serves as Director of the school, which takes the name of LUM School of Management with a new brand, its Statute and a three-year strategic plan that aims to place it among the major schools of Italian management.
The LUM School of Management then becomes the third pillar of the University, the Faculty of Economics and Law.
The Scientific Director works together with with the Operating Director , Prof. Francesco Albergo, and a group of young researchers and coordinators of areas and projects, ensuring the School fully operational and the definitive qualitative leap.
A part from Traditional Master training , Advanced and Specialised Training Courses , the School supports important and high value scientific activities: promotes many initiatives seminars and many important conventions, establishes and implements the “Summer School”, opportunity to meet and debate on corporate innovation processes, participates in the realization of experimental and research initiatives with leading public and private local professions.
In this development process, are gradually consolidating, numerous and important relations with companies, public institutions and healthcare companies, with third sector organisations and those representing them, in which the School serves as a privileged interlocutor, which aims to provide expertise and resources, to cooperate with the productive pattern, institutional and cultural that daily deep commitment to improvement and growth of southern Italy and the Mediterranean.
Therefore, the LUM School of Management, like the other parts the LUM Jean Monnet University presents a modern organization, capable to translate the principles that regard the Foundation, structure and strengthen contact and exchange patterns among faculty and students, between academia and the productive patterns, creating valuable synergies in favour of students: particularly active in the establishment of agreements and conventions with important producers of the territory aimed to the holding of training workshops and to generate opportunities for placement.
However, the future history of the University is still to be written: pages that will narrate the pride and the passion of those who participate in this hard adventure to build the progress of the country with the strength of values, ideas and aspirations.
